PLAY'S THE THING

This class involves students in the theatrical process through acting exercises designed to increase concentration, free the imagination, foster spontaneity and flexibility and increase self confidence. Movement for the stage, theatre games, character development and improvisation are used to help students engage in the creative process. At the last class meeting, parents will be invited in to observe a presentation of learned exercises and rehearsed performance material.

MUSICAL THEATRE PRODUCTION CLASS

This class focuses on training in acting, voice and movement with a rehearsal period that leads to a performance of one of Inside Out Theatre’s original musicals. Instruction includes traditional Stanislavski techniques, improvisation and character development. No experience is necessary; however, this class leads to a performance in a professional theatre setting and students are expected to be committed and work at the highest level of professionalism. Students must be available for the mandatory dress/tech rehearsal and the performance.

TEEN ENSEMBLE WORKSHOP

A performance-based class offering students the opportunity to hone their acting, voice and movement skills. Through brainstorm sessions, writing and gathering of material, improvisation techniques, and scene work, students come to create and perform a show based on a social issue relevant to their lives. Students will engage in the process of creating ideas, characters, play structure, and choosing appropriate musical pieces that will tie their show together. Students will present their performance at the end of each session.

Helene Slavin Goldberg Youth Improv Class

Learn the basic tools and fundamentals of improvisation in a fun and exhilarating environment! Students will learn the basics of agreement, creating environment, relationship, characterization and both short-form improvisation and long-form improvisation based on The Harold. The class culminates with a performance for family and friends.
